We understand the concerns of our students' parents and carers around this situation and we can assure you that we acted swiftly to suspend Mr Nicholas Spink on 19 May 2020 once we were informed of his arrest. We then conducted an investigation and summarily dismissed Nicholas Spink on 13 July 2020.
Following the dismissal, we then made referrals to the Teacher Regulation Agency (TRA) and the Disclosure and Barring Service. A professional conduct panel (“the panel”) of the Teaching Regulation Agency (“the TRA”) convened on 17 September 2024 to 18 September 2024 to consider his case. Accordingly, the panel made a recommendation to the Secretary of State that a prohibition order should be imposed with immediate effect. This was accepted on behalf of the Secretary of State which means that Nicholas Spink is prohibited from teaching indefinitely and cannot teach in any school, sixth form college, relevant youth accommodation or children’s home in England. Furthermore, in view of the seriousness of the allegations found proved against him, Nicholas Spink shall not be entitled to apply for restoration of his eligibility to teach.
We will support any of our students through this period that need it, and may I stress that at Outwood we will always do anything and everything we can to ensure the safety of our children.
